I should mention here the the military of the Fallen Aquila is composed of the Guardsmen originally assigned to the Rouge Traders ship and their children.  They still adhere to the Imperial code and Guard structure but given the nature of their situation some standards are relaxed.  This said every guardsman is a professional soldier.  They have to be to be worth how much Walsh charges for their services.
